A Leaders Debate without a Leader!

On Tuesday September 27th, 2011 is the leaders debate. Well not a full fledged leaders debate as Ontario Green Party Leader, Mike Schreiner won't be part of the debate.

Now some say, well the Ontario Green Party has no seats so they don't deserve to be in the debate. To me that's just an easy excuse to give. The Ontario Green Party is running candidates in each riding across the Province. Are the Ontario Reform Party? No, Are the Freedom Party?, No, are the Communist Party?, No.

In 2007 the Ontario Greens received over 350,000 votes and they deserve a seat at the table, but it won't happen this time around. On a positive note, Steve Pakin from the Agenda on TVO has given equal airtime to the Greens on his show. Since the start of the Election, the Greens have had one of their candidates appear on the show along with candidates from the Liberals, PC's and NDP. Kudos to TVO and Steve Pakin for allowing this to happen.

I will be watching the Leaders Debate because I can't wait for the 3 "Leaders" to stand around and bash one another and not talk about the real issues that are facing the people of Ontario. Maybe if Schreiner was allowed to be included in the debate it would have a been a true leaders debate talking about the real issues. But I guess we will have to wait until 2015 in the case of a majority government, or sooner in the case of a minority government.

Until next time!
