Green Party Announces Shadow Cabinet

Today, Mike Schreiner Leader, Green Party of Ontario announces his shadow cabinet in advance of this Octobers Provincial Election.

GPO Deputy Leader Judy Smith-Torrie takes on the role of Critic for the Ministries of Environment, Health and Long-Term Care and Health Promotion and Sport.  Judy is the Executive Director of the Go Green Together Centre in Cobourg. This will be her second run as GPO candidate in Northumberland-Quinte West.
·         Prince Edward-Hastings candidate Treat Hull takes on the role of Critic for Energy and Research and Innovation. Treat recently retired after a career of more than three decades in consulting and executive management. He was also provincial leader of the GPO's campaign against cutbacks to the MicroFIT solar energy program.
·         Dufferin-Caledon candidate Rob Strang takes on the role of Critic for Economic Development and Trade, Finance and Revenue. Rob has been a panel member on the Ontario Environmental Appeal Board, served as an Orangeville town councillor, and has been active in the Green Party since 1999.
·         Parry Sound-Muskoka candidate Matt Richter takes on the role of Critic for Education and Tourism and Culture.  Richter is a local teacher and has spearheaded various fundraising efforts for Habitat for Humanity and the Bracebridge Manna Food Bank.
·         Ottawa Centre candidate Kevin O'Donnell takes on the role of Critic for Infrastructure and Municipal Affairs and Housing.  O'Donnell is an active community volunteer and currently works as a senior software developer for a national telecommunications firm.
·         Ottawa-Vanier candidate Dave Bagler takes on the role of Critic for Community and Social Services and Training, Colleges and Universities.  Dave is a software and web developer in Ottawa and started a local food drive in the Sandy Hill community in Ottawa-Vanier.
·         Trinity-Spadina candidate Tim Grant takes on the role of Critic for Transportation.   A former high school teacher, Tim has been the co-editor of Green Teacher magazine for the past 20 years.
It’s clear that momentum is building.  We can start today to develop a sustainable future for Ontario, and leave a positive legacy for our children.  I see the proof of this in my travels around the province – the desire and leadership exists.  It’s time for Green MPPs at Queen’s Park to support the spirit and innovation that’s already happening in communities around the province.  Our Shadow Cabinet is an integral milestone in our march towards electoral success this October.

Until next time!
