This past week PC Leader, Tim Hudak kicked off his campaign to become Ontario's next Premier. With recent polls showing Hudak's lead now within the margin of error, some question if he has what it takes to be Premier.
While people don't like McGuinty, they know what to expect from him. They know that he lies, they know that he will most likely, if re-elected raise our taxes by hiding it as a fee. We know Dalton and while he's lied to us, our health care and education systems have improved over the past 8 years. Our economy is on the upswing with Ontario now the leader in North America in making cars.
Tim Hudak's biggest problem, and the Liberals, NDP and Greens know this is that he was a junior Minister in the Mike Harris cabinet. Hudak's been called a "Harris Clone" and if the other 3 political parties are able to convince the voters that a Hudak government would bring back the days of Mike Harris, then Hudak won't win, he won't be the next Premier of Ontario.
The Liberal political machine at the Provincial level is very effective in taking one minor issue and turning it into a major campaign issue which will make voters see the PC leader in a different light. Just ask John Tory with the whole faith based funding issue from the 2007 election. A very small part of the PC's 07 platform cost him the election.
Until next time!
